More about me
I’m a wife, a mom to two young adult sons, and a longtime member of the Charleston community. I’ve called Charleston home for 30 years, and for nearly 27 of those years, I’ve lived on James Island where my husband and I have built our life together. Raising my boys here has been one of the most meaningful experiences of my life and has given me a deep, personal understanding of the joys and challenges that come with parenting, growing up, and navigating change.
My name is Heather Anderson, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with a passion for supporting teens, young adults, and families. With over 25 years of experience in education, I’ve had the privilege of walking alongside students and families through moments of growth, uncertainty, and transition. Those experiences continue to shape the way I show up for my clients today—with empathy, patience, and a genuine desire to connect.
I understand that the teen and young adult years can feel overwhelming—for both individuals and the families who love them. Whether it’s anxiety, school pressures, identity development, relationships, or life transitions, these seasons can bring both challenges and opportunities. My goal is to create a space where each person feels safe, heard, and supported—and where families can build stronger understanding and connection with one another.
My counseling approach is grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Solution-Focused Therapy. I work collaboratively with clients to identify patterns, develop practical coping strategies, and focus on strengths and solutions. I believe meaningful change happens when we feel understood and empowered, and I strive to meet each client where they are while helping them move forward with clarity and confidence.
I bring a warm, down-to-earth, and authentic presence to my work. Building trust is especially important when working with teens and young adults, and I value partnering with families to support communication, reduce conflict, and foster healthier relationships.
Reaching out for support can feel like a big step—for both individuals and families. If you choose to work with me, you can expect a supportive, respectful, and collaborative relationship focused on growth, resilience, and meaningful connection.
I look forward to connecting with you.
